Gorebama

A friend drew my attention to this prophetic headline, and made me realize we're woefully deficient in our coverage of the next Presidential election, I mean, it's already 2007 folks, we might as well wait to discuss candidates until after the election.

I've been anxiously hoping for the Hillary v. Jeb Political Dynastydown 2008. But who makes your 2008 dream team? What's your fantasy showdown?

(Speaking of fantasies... can we set up a fantasy league for the Primaries? How would that work? However it works, it's the next big thing. EP, you're on it.)

    There are so many interesting match-ups for the 2008 presidential election. Here are a handful with the Republican candidates mentioned first (clarity purposes only):

    Brownback v. Obama (Darfur '08)

    Bush, Jeb v. Clinton, Hillary (aforementioned Dynasty '08)

    Tancredo v. Richardson (Immigration '08)

    Gingrich v. Edwards (Remember Me '08)

    Giuliani v. Gore (Narcolepsy '08)

    McCain v. Biden (Media Whore '08)

    Unfortunately, with the individual primaries beginning to become less and less important, a fantasy league for the respective party's presidential tickets would be uninteresting.

    How many candidates have won the presidential ticket for their party after being in the rear after Super Tuesday? I know of no recent (50 years?) candidates.

    Thus with Super Tuesday more or less defining who we pick every four years, the "fantasy" idea wouldn't fit that well. Fantasy leagues are designed for multiple events, and the primaries are decided, more or less, by Super Tuesday.

    Now wagering would be an entirely different matter...
